How to Measure for a Halo Bracelet

There are two reliable methods to determine your size. For the most accurate result, it's best to use both.

Method 1: Measure Your Hand (The String or Tape Measure Method)

This is the most common and accurate method.

1. Make a "Paw": Bring your four fingers together (index, middle, ring, and little finger) and tuck your thumb into your palm, as if you were about to slip on a bracelet. This mimics the widest part of your hand that the bracelet must pass over.

2. Measure: Using a soft, flexible measuring tape (or a piece of string and a ruler), wrap it around the widest part of your knuckles and your thumb joint.

   • Pro Tip: Pull the string or tape fairly snug; you want to simulate the force needed to get the bracelet on.

3. Note the Measurement: If you used a string, mark where it meets, lay it flat, and measure the length against a ruler. This gives you the circumference of your hand at its widest point.

4. Find Your Size: Use the circumference measurement with the conversion chart in the next section.

Method 2: Measure an Existing Bracelet That Fits You Well

If you already own a bangle bracelet that fits the way you want your Halo bracelet to fit, this is very easy.

1. Lay the bracelet flat on a table.

2. Measure the inner diameter from one inner edge directly across to the opposite inner edge.

3. Do NOT measure the outer diameter, as the thickness of the bracelet can be misleading.

4. Use this inner diameter measurement (in millimeters or inches) as your size.

Halo bangle sizes are almost always given as the inner diameter in millimeters (mm).

Here is a chart to convert your hand circumference (from Method 1) to the recommended bangle diameter:

The most common sizes for women are between 52mm and 58mm. The most popular size is often 54mm-56mm.

How is it Supposed to Fit?

A halo bangle should fit snugly but not painfully. It should be difficult to put on and take off, which is part of what makes it secure.

• A Good Fit: You should feel firm pressure sliding over your knuckles. Once on, the bracelet should rest comfortably on your wrist without spinning freely. You should be able to slide it back and forth over your wrist bone with a little resistance.

• Too Loose: If it slides on and off with no effort and spins easily on your wrist, it's too big and is at a high risk of slipping off and breaking.

• Too Tight: If you cannot get it over your knuckles without extreme pain or if it cuts off circulation, it is too small.

Important Considerations

• Dominant Hand: Your dominant hand is often slightly larger. Measure the hand you intend to wear the bracelet on.
• Bangle Thickness: Thicker bangles (e.g., 10mm+ wide) will feel tighter than a thin, delicate bangle (e.g., 6mm wide) of the same diameter. You might need to size up 1mm for a very thick bangle.

• The "Bag Trick": To put on a snug bangle, lube your hand with lotion, oil, or soapy water. Pull a plastic bag over your hand (this reduces friction dramatically), slide the bangle over the bag, and then remove the bag.

Final Advice: If you are between sizes or unsure, it is always better to size up. A slightly loose bangle is safer than one that is too tight and risks breaking during wear or removal.
